So Quiet!

It's been so quiet at the blog lately... Where is everyone? Even Warren isn't his normal, poetic self, opting for short, plain messages instead, leaving us bloggers wanting for more content.

Jenny (at camp, I forgot)? Valerie? Keri? Michelle? Heather? Where is everone? Don't tell me you're all working?! Poo on work. Come back to the bloooooooooogggggg... Coooommmmeee baaaaaaaaaaaaaack (is my hypnotism working?)

Sonya, it's you and me keeping up with the comments, baby. Don't fail me now!

P.S. My kitty cat is lying beside me all passed out like from the heat, with a ribbon in his mouth. He's taken to carrying his ribbon wherever he goes... Should I be worried?

You should only be concerned if the ribbon makes an appearance on the other end of you cat.
I have been distracted lately by not having a shower installed yet (you haven't lived until you've bathed in a tub sans plug with a basin and old yoghurt container to perform you ablutions with - it's like camping with all your possesions in the middle of a city thus making the experience that much more unendurable) and now a backing up sewer line. Raw sewage in the basement anyone? Yum.
I have discovered the long dreamed of joys of a stove top espresso maker! Just when you thought being married to the ideal woman was enough along comes espresso at will! Dance of Joy, everyone!
Okay, I know it isn't really espresso since the pressure doesn't get high enough, but super concentrated coffee is the next best thing. Anyone ever had Hong Kong style iced coffee? Or Vietnam's iced coffee? They are super yummy.
Can you tell it is 6:19AM? my thoughts stray to coffee.
Survey: What is your favourite caffinated beverage (not including pop)?

Okay, I know all the coffee purists (Warren!!!) out there will give a horrified gasp of, well, horror, but I LOVE the chocolate brownie latte from Second Cup. The sweeter and milkier the better! Mmmm . . . sweetened flavoured kiddie drink from nation-wide chain of evil--what a pleasure (note the lingering guilt . . . hairy eyeball!).

By the way, Warren, should you be tossing back the espressos? Don't you remember that time we were giving a presentation in 536 (534? 623? 666?) and you nearly died? BECAUSE OF TOO MUCH CAFFEINE?!

The opperative word there is "nearly". I survived and the colours of life were the sweeter because of it, or some shit like that. Anyway, "tossing" isn't really appropriate in this situation. I only have a couple a week with a regular cup about once a day. When school starts, that is when I'll need to install a hotplate in my locker and make shots between classes. And in the class breaks. But if any of you have ever seen my locker then you know that may be quite the fire hazard.
As for the hairy eyeball for patronizing the chain of evil, don't sweat it, Sonya, I find that coffee isn't the same if you can't taste the oppression.
My favourite beverage... do I have to pick only one? I suppose it would be a well made espresso. A good one is hard to find though.
Amanda: Where oh where is our "something special" in the mail? It isn't a subscription to a pornographic magazine is it? I certainly hope not, that would be just appalling. No, seriously. Just because I'm a man doesn't mean I'm a pig. Does it?

Good to see you back in tip top form, Warren. Although bad news about the septic and yogurt container. That's pooy (no pun intended.)

I'd have to say I waver between two beverages... Tea (little bit-o-milk and 3/4 of a sweetner) and a strong coffee with a drop or two of milk. It depends on the day and how desperate I am feeling.

My friend Heather doesn't drink anything hot... Can you believe that? Crazy man. Crazy.

damn blog! I had a well thought out riposte to Sonya's acusatory allegations but it doesn't seem to have appeared. in essence I stated that my addition was NO! IS in hand but would return to full vigour with the dawning of the second year but I would battle it bravely and stage a comeback by recording a single that would devote 2% of its profits to the needy coffee pickers of the world. The rest would be embezzled by my managerial team of Jenny and Val, but I wouldn't hold a grudge since I'd be too wasted on bean.
I prefer a good espresso, but good ones are very hard to make and find.
I also enquired as to the "something special" we gave up our mailing addresses for. Is it a porno subscription? Or is Amanda just profiting by selling her friends address' to ad companies? Or did my email to her disappear? Time will tell.

I'm sorry for my long absence Amanda and fellow bloggers - I too have been distracted by flooding. Water + bookstore = not good. No lasting damage, fortunately, but it was a little stressful for a while there on Sunday. Picture me with my ankle-length skirt rolled up at the waist band so that it's knee length, standing in a puddle up to my shins in the parking lot out back of the store, bailing water to attempt to lower the level to below the door, and you'll see what I mean. However, all turned out all right, and now I have a flood story!

My favourite caffeinated beverage: the chai tea that my friend Baljinder makes the authentic way, if you're really nice to her, on the stove top with actual spices and things. But since she lives in Victoria, this is not a craving I get to satisfy often. And take it from me, those Chai lattes made from syrup are not the same! As Baljinder would say, tea should not come from a carton. Although I drink them anyway, because I'm too lazy to learn how to make it the authentic way myself.

I haven't forsaken you either Amanda, it's just that all the Stampede mayhem makes it hard to blog. Days off for the parade, leaving early for beer on the patio, free tickets to the Rodeo… ahhh, life is rough in Calgary during the summer. As for my favourite caffeinated beverage, well, I actually try to avoid caffeine because it makes me all hyper and crazy-like. In fact, during my undergrad I had to get a final deferred because of an unfortunate incident involving an iced mocha frappucino. I almost DIED, just like Warren.

Are you serious? Dear Lord, Sluthy. No caffine for you.

Since I was called out by name, I better respond. I drink iced tea every single morning at work. It's the only thing that keeps me awake. I'm really not a morning person. And then at lunch, I'll sometimes get a coffee frappuccino from good old evil Starbucks. So I'm really disappointed that I didn't get my address to Amanda for the porn subscription! Anyway, it's after 5 and I'm heading home. Amazing Race tonight!
